Helen's portrayal of the distinct light and colours of the bush, a deft use of stong lines and texture, and a remarkable familiarity with her subject matter all contribute to her signature style. Her work reflects times of drought, wet and bushfire.

Helen's paintings have a representational base with a strong abstract element. Her first award, an "equal first", was received for an oil painting at Geelong Art and Museum Association exhibition in 1978. Followed by another first for oils in 1979.

Since then, she has received regular awards for her oils, pastels, watercolour and acrylics.

Recently, Helen's work was included in a prestigious volume representing 50 wildlife artists. The book "Inspiration Wild" is a fund-raiser towards the establishment of the Wildlife Art Museum of Australia (WAMA) at Pomonal, on the edge of the Grampian's Ranges. The 15 acre site is currently being landscaped and developed.
